Diesels will run upside down long enough to do very bad things to an oil starved engine.
I'd bet you could go to a dealer and buy one off the lot and have less in it when done.
Ended at $4050 seems high but maybe not, I found they sell for around $14,000 used without loader. But as Gtractor stated, who knows how long it ran upside down with lack of oil
