Quiet exhaust

I've use Farmall Cub farm tractor mufflers on some of mine. Seems not to bad for noise. Didn't hurt the power that I noticed. Can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Longer exhaust piping would help.

Many years ago when I was riding a Honda 90 I liked the idea of a straight pipe. Unfortunately the police didn't. Some one in the aftermarket made a device that basically consisted of a washer with a stud attached to the edge. You drilled a hole in the side of the exhaust n`ear the end and put the washer inside the exhaust with the stud extending through the hole in the side of the pipe. On the outside of the pipe a spring was installed with a knob arrangement that allowed you to turn the washer so that it was either parallel or transverse to the pipe. Being spring mounted when transverse to the pipe the washer moved with the exhaust and created very little restriction yet made the engine much quieter unless it was high rpm and full throttle. When turned parallel to the pipe the device was not detectable different than a straight pipe. Don

Hey... Thats MY tractor...LOL

The last two pics that Propane1 put up are of one of my Fords... and I managed to fit a small muffler under the rear fenders also.....

All parts are off the shelf at Canadian Tire in the automotive section EXCEPT for the muffler itself which I dont recall where it came from... I probably robbed it off another GT of some sorts. Thats a very nice exhaust system, super quiet, one my favorite creations ;)

What kind of tractor are you working on Siman??

That one on my Ford was super easy to build BUT you do need a welder.... nothin fancy just something weld all the seams of the differant sections of pipe. and maybe some mounting tabs. I wasnt concerned so much about the noise but that the motor always smoked and stunk a little coming out the side of the Ford just behind the grill so I stuck it out the back.... being quiet was an added bonus AND it will fit any K engine I might drop into the tractor in the future... or any of my other Fords if I choose. Total cost... will still be less than $100cad even after if/when I ever buy some proper header paint.

IMO... stacks are annoying as h3ll.. dont matter how high they are the slightest breeze will always find a way to blow it in your face... even on full size tractors they piff me off. I have one on my '57 RaM only because it LOOKS right.

You can also put something together using bits and pieces from the black pipe section in most any hardware stores ... and add a muffler from a lawn/garden supplier.... if your engine has the threaded exhaust port the pipe already has the correct threads.

On this Cub the threads were bad so I had to drill and thread the head for two bolts and fab up a manifold.... not real quiet but certainly better than a burnt out oem muffler.

I like the exhaust to go down to the ground, especially when mowing. Ground adsorbs a lot of the sound and makes a much more enjoyable ride. My 1512 Diesel has the muffler going straight up but it is a real quiet muffler - stock Kubota.

Lance, I’ve had those pictures for a while. I keep them for reference. I liked the look and idea of it. They came off the other web site at some point.

I seen a guy who lived in town make up a 2 muffler exhaust for his sons bike. He used one of the "hot dog" mufflers. Welded that inline. Then put a "salt shaker" muffler on the end. It was pretty quiet.

Hehe, this old blower I fixed up from three blowers. I use it on my deck. Put woodin blocks for shoes, so it won’t hurt the deck boards. But the big thing is, my dual exhaust. Hehe.
A fella has got to have a little fun,
