Rear Tractor Weights

Satoh Beaver with front loader get kind of light of the back wheel occasionally. Picked up about 80 lbs of bench weights at a yard sale for $10. I have another cast iron weight from ?? that weighs about 50 ot 60 lbs. Plan is to mount these on a 5/8" rod between the two lift arms of the 3 point. Not sure that a 5/8" road will carry that much weight without bending. The cast iron weight is about 16" long so plan to use it for the "box" to set it in to remove the weights when using other 3 point equipment. The hole in the cast piece I believe is 1/2" but can enlarge it to 5/8" for the rod. I may have to arrange the weights to keep the lightest towards the center possibly? The weights are 15lb, 12lb,10lb, 5lb, and 2lb if I remember right. Any thoughts or suggestions? Going to work on it this morning.

That would be the best but would have to be something built out of heavy enough material to carry the weight. Future project. Thought the rod would be a quick set up. Don't have material right now to build a box. Auctions coming up that might have something. Great suggestion for sure.

I did this Roger. 3/8 threaded rod. Weights are tightened together with washers and nuts. Then also tightened on both sides of the 3 point arms. No troubles yet with it. 80 lbs there on mine.

If 3/8 uni rod is holding on your 5/8 road should work with what I have to work with. Appreciate the encouragement. If I was thinking I would have kept the old rotors off my truck when they did the rear brakes a year ago. 20/20 hind sight.

I got mine on with a 12" thick walk tube. I for got how heavy that cast piece was when I put it on the front of that tractor. Was in a angle iron holder with tarp trap strap holding it back to the solid front end. Tipped it out into the loader bucket, duped it with the other weights. Had one heck of a time getting it standing up on the end. Used a rod in the hole for leverage. wiggled it around and got it in position so the tube would go through the lower arms and the hole in the weight. Added the other weights and ended up with around 130 + lbs.

Remembered to get a photo of the weights on the tractor this morning. The center cast iron weight has to be around 75 lbs, give or take. Each of the large gray weights are 15lb each, smaller grey ones are 8lb each and the two cast iron are 5 lg each. Makes about 140 lbs, give or take. Made a big difference on traction.

Those cables are the sway stopping cables that were one there when I got the tractor. When I get the blade or rake on will do some measuring and come up with a flat iron piece for that purpose.

Thanks. Want to put the two on the outside of the arms to the inside. They will all stand on the center cast piece but need a box to lower it in that will support them all first. The arms have two positions on the inside pin, inside or outside of the spacer. I moved the two lower arm to the inside as both my rear equipment items has the pins on the inside. This makes those cables to long to do any good.
