Sears suburban rear axel oil

I guess it would, but the manual calls for non detergent 30W. I've know guys use 80w90 gear oil but I think that would be some stiff shifting when cold. I've heard of tranny fluid being used too.

I use 30w in my SS12 & SS16. I don’t second guess the engineers. A bit tedious filling rear axle due to location of filler hole

I always kind of figure all these oils and qualities didnt exist then these tractors were made. I put anything in there that I feel meets or exceeds the oem requirements.

I've been using 80-90 for almost a decade. They have some wear, this helps. They shift better and sound better. IMHO
As for winter, it'd have to get really cold for it to be a problem. Like -20 or lower, and I'm not even sure then. Probably just act like grease, still lube.

I know what the manual calls for, but it's.served me very well so far.
