Some classics at work this week

First was a nice old Bronco. Not sure on the year. It was repainted at one time, the interior is all original. We had to fix a small spot of rust in the white on the front door.

Also an 89 Caprice. Also has been repainted. The clear was peeling in a few spots and some rust inside both rear doors, and a new rear bumper.

I dig them both! I think the first year of the Bronco was 1965. This one does not have side marker lights so it has to be '65 to '67. The side markers were a government mandate for the 1968 production year for all manufacturers.

Where are you located? This winter's project is to clean up the rust and replace a couple panels on my old pickup, I want a good durable paint job on it when done, I'm gonna get it to a point that all that needs done by the time it goes in is the actual "paint job", no metal work, I'm gonna be looking for someone to take it to. I haven't painted a car since about 1986/87-ish and between the difference in paint tech and my not using a paint gun much since/"use a skill or lose it" as much as I dread "having" something done for me, I think this is one of those things.

My honey used to drive a Bronco like that to school,,after she and siblings paddled across the river to landing.
Her father couldn't get her licensed soon enough for that chore

Wilkes-Barre PA area. Probably a bit far for you. And we don't really do full paint jobs anymore. It’s just me and my dad, and with all of our other work, they are too much.

well all I know about painting cars is lots has changed since Centari paint was available.

When I was painting cars it was lacquer and enamel. That was it.

Centari was an enamel, a sub brand that was sold by Dupont

Same here a simple two coat paint then buff that was it.

When thinking of the body shop the first thing that comes to mind is the smell of lacquer thinner and Bondo dust. Mmmmm good.
