Does anyone have the correct colors for a 1966 Speedex S-18.
Only colors I have found on line recommends IH red, and John Deere Yellow on the wheels.
The units I see like that look real nice. But my wheels are a darker "mustard yellow", and the red paint has more of an orange hue than IH red.
I have plenty of IH red and JD yellow to put on it, but would really like to go with the original colors.
We checked my brothers stash of paint. (Trail95). The closest he had was Case Flambeau Red. But it may have too much orange in it.
I will probably have to remove the fenders and hope there is a patch of non-faded paint under the mounting brackets. The rest of the paint is pretty well gone.
I was going to attach a picture of my S-18 but can't find one. I'll have to get it tomorrow.

Some places that sell paint could mix you the colour, if you take in a sample of it. I was told the other day all they needed was a piece about the size of a dime. I wanted JD yellow for my snow thrower, but I went a different route. I found some other yellow at home. And it’s close enough.

Originally they most likely used a lacquer based paint which is no longer available, you can still buy some lacquer paints but its composition is very differant today from what it was back in the 60s and has a much differant sheen to it, even if you could find the original factory paint codes a modern paint mix will not look exactly correct. If the old pros say IH red and JD yellow then thats likely the best way to go.
