Think this will work

We are getting ready for corn silage up here and I need to light the side of the 40 foot silage trailer so we can tell when the tarp down at night.


I think this will work.  Add 2 diodes (1N5817), one to each terminal of the reversible tarp motor and join them to the LED spot light.  See Drawing.

That will only work when the tarp motor is in reverse.  Do you need the light anyother time?

I would like the LED on it both directions.


When the polarity on the motor changes with direction of rotation wouldn't the positive side of the motor feed the LED though one or the other diodes.?

I think it will work, diodes act as 1 way valve, the light will come on when the tarp motor is running, either


direction.

When I touch either eyelet to B+ I have power at the single spade lead.

The negative for the led is grounded to the frame. There purpose is to let the driver see the tarp at night to open and close it.
