The wife went to a local resale shop yesterday and found an old Singer Featherweight 221 sewing machine. Lightly used and in excellent condition.
And apparently got it for a really good price.
What that means to me is that I need to get another G.T.

Keep us posted on the new tractor, Rick---LOL! Is this machine heavy duty enough for the upholstery work? I would actually think that if she is going to do your tractor seats with it, maybe you should settle for that instead of another tractor?

No she wouldn't do upholstery work with this one. It small and portable. also a vintage machine. She won't use it much. it was something she had to have when she saw it, and how cheap they sold it. Kinda like finding that garden tractor you were looking for.;)

Those pinstripes and graphics were always so cool on old sewing machines. Looks like that one may not have been used much at all.

We've got a couple of old treadle machines around here. My wife's great grandmother's and my grandmother's. My grandmother's is still intact even though it went down the creek for a couple of miles in 1972. How it didn't get destroyed is a mystery. Obviously it in inoperable, but I don't have the heart to scrap or throw it away. My wife's is still in operating condition. Unfortunately a person can't hardly even give them away if they had to go.

Edy had a collection of eight different treadle machines at one time. She only has one treadle now. We took one out of a neighbors basement that had gotten wet several times. The machine was rusted and frozen up. It became a flowerbed decoration. The base was cleaned up and painted. We put a marble top on it and it is on the front porch as a small table.
