What you want is on page 56 of the Kohler K series Service manual. I tried to copy it, but it is in a PDF. If you are working on a Kohler, the service manual is invaluable.
Probably not the right thing to do, but some guys put a light spring from the top carb linkage to the engine shroud. There was a debate a while back if this was stock or not as some Kohlers seem to have it and some don't. There is a small hole in the shroud that the spring fits into, so who knows?
