I saw this Cub Cadet for sale about 2 miles up the road this morning. Stopped to look at it, took it for a ride, and told the guy I’d be back in 10 minutes with cash and a trailer. I’ve seen it out before along with his other two Cubs, I’ve been waiting to see one with a for sale sign. It looks kind of rough with a quick rattle can paint job over the rust, but it runs and mows. If I keep it, it will get a proper paint job eventually. 14 hp, I guess that would make it a 1440. The grill housing is broken, but the rest of the plastic is in decent shape. Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet. I already have too many tractors, but it was too good of a deal to pass up. I have been wanting to try a Cyclops Cub. I’m going out now to do some mowing with it.

I got one ~3 weeks ago I don't really need, but couldn't pass on either.
I had one here that I was going to do a motor swap on, but in the process of pulling it apart, I found out that it needed more than just the motor/ which I've had the replacement here already, for a while too/// a motor I can certainly find something more worthy to use on.

. Things that weren't froze up, were sloppy loose ... Plus the front PTO clutch was shorting out, I discovered that winding wires were bare and touching the hub/ something else that I would have had to replace. In looking for parts to determine whether or not it would be "worth it" to fix, I found a complete nother machine for peanuts, in way better shape. So, that helped the decision quite a bit. So, I didn't actually gain a machine, since I scrapped one out.... But I have a lot better one. I was able to use quite a bit of of parts off of the scrapper unit so I've improved on the "new" one quite a bit without having to spend anything on it.... and I got more than I paid for the new one and half of the gas I spent, on going to get it when I scrapped the other one.

I mowed with it for and hour, and it did a good job. So far I like it. No smoke or funny noises from the engine. 1035 hours on the working meter. The PTO switch stopped working, so the PO rigged up another one above it. It works, but I want to put it back to factory. LED headlights. The only issues I noticed was that going from reverse to forward is kind of jerky, and a little vibration, possibly from the driveshaft. I’ll check that out before I use it much.

the V-twin is a very versatile engine cause it can be converted to run either way so you can put them in about anything. In my Deutz mowers they run vertical, in my generator its horizontal. They're pretty good on fuel, decent power and quiet.

I would just replace the grill with expanded metal and put an IH emblem in the middle of it.... give it a nostalgic look;)

I picked up a 1862 last summer at an auction. Nice clean tractor, deck was solid and had been repainted, new set of blades + deck wheels, etc. with it. Kohler 18 Mag. Don't use any oil, hydro worked good. One of the best mowing tractors I have used. Filled the back tires with fluid to climb the humps better. Power steering seems to go zaway a little after it sits for a few minuets not running, like refueling. Comes back strong after about 10 min. of running again. Need to check the hydro fluid.
