Torch Gun ?

Why are these two guns different. The one on the right is one I’ve been using on an acetylene tank for about twelve years. A friend gave me the one on the left along with a larger tip. The open orifice on the left has me confused.

I'm thinking the ones with the open orifices allow more air making a hotter flame..?

That's what I was thinking too, as if you block those holes on a propane torch, you get a real lazy flame.

Allowing air to be mixed in was my thought too Bill and Daniel. I haven’t tried it yet but it would be nice.

I think the one on the left is more of a turbo torch. The one on the left should be a lot noisier. The one on the right is a gentler flame.
