What am I getting into?

I've been looking, mainly to plow our church lot to help save them some money. So I bought these from 2 different sellers. They finally dropped the prices to an acceptable price for me. Picked up the mount Friday night, blade Saturday morning. Both have been sitting outside for a bit, but the Meyers mount is specifically made for my Dodge and the blade is also a Meyers. I measured and they should be a match.
First will be to try to separate the pump section from the truck mount, then test to see what works. Once I get all that working, then I'll get mount on truck and I know there is some welding needing done.
Then onto blade, I need to free up the pivots, try to bend a couple mounts back into place, weld up some cracks and broken areas. Then I'll check cylinders, one shaft is slightly pitted and I think the other is bent, guess I'll find out when I get there.

I'll probably be asking questions along the way for any of you plow experts.

Both sellers had either tractor or forklift to load, but unloading was fun. I use a prybar to push blade down gate, then got the end up on a log, then prybar'd it as far as I could, next added logs under the front and drove out from under it.

Slid a couple 2x4s under mount, slid it down and out.

The school my brother worked at had a mix of meyer and Western. They seemed to have less issues with the meyers.
I had an 8-1/2' Meyers on my 97 1/2 ton Dodge 4wd. With a set of front springs off a Cummins truck (plow was rated for a 1 ton) it got thru everything I threw at it
Now I have a 96 Dakota, have had for about 10 years now, my son has been bugging me to put a plow on that one, I never gave him an answer ( that truck is about finished off, it's tired) but one day he picked me up and said we're going for a ride across Indiana to pick up a plow for that truck"..... He spent the money, not me, and he missed the brackets to fit. (Think this one was on a Colorado before) It's a homeowner duty 6-1/2' Fisher ..... I've never dealt with anything Fisher before but I guess they share the same parent company as Western. This thing is definitely shorter than my old commercial Meyer was. Considering the winter we've had here south of Chicago the past couple of years maybe I won't need to find out how good a plow truck this may be.
It does have the lower gears front and rear compared to most (3.91 vs 3.55) and a track lok posi that I put in it myself 80k ago when I replaced the pinion bearings. So if it don't fold in half from age it might not be too bad for doing the kids rental and a couple of other driveways aro. I was just hoping for "1 more year" out of it as my winter commuter beater, though I said exactly that last year around this time.
It has been a great trick for me, used to drive the hell out of it... Just wish it was as rust free as it was when I got it..... Then I wouldn't worry about it being good for this purpose..... 8 years ago if someone offered me a plow I'd have been more likely to jump at it....

We have the same plow.

Everyone says Meyers are junk, but the only thing we have done to it is replace a solenoid. We plow a mile long dirt road, which is hard on any plow, the lot at work, and a couple small driveways. It gets a lot of use. This will be the 7th season we have it.

My neighbor gave me another blade, I still have to go get it. This truck has been sitting for 20 years. I don’t know if the pump or anything is still good, but the blade is in better shape than the one we have now.

This website has tons of info on them: Meyer Snow Plow Information - All models, pumps, and blades. News, resources, videos, and more!.

They are easy plows to put on and take off. Having the pump separate from the blade makes it easier to move around when it’s not on the truck too if you have to. Good luck getting the pump and mount separated though. From what I hear once those tubes rust in there, they are nearly impossible to get out without cutting them out.
