What do you think of these tires ?

Seen these at our local farm equipment dealer a number of days ago. I’m not buying just looking, for entertainment. Seem like a good traction tire. They are for a compact tractor I think. And these were the front ones. Same tire for the rear, just bigger.

What brand of tire?
That's what I was wondering. What are they called.??
They look like a really nice tire..

"Tires that have NHS in the tire size designation are designed for off highway applications. They must not be used in normal highway service. NHS tires are not intended for the speeds, temperatures, or stresses of highway use. They are typically intended for farm, off-road, lawn and garden, and industrial uses."

Though that don't tell a whole lot.

All right, all right. I went back, away out of my way to find out what brand of tires these are and designation.

They are Goodyear brand. And are a R14T.

And I’ll give you a little tour of the place.

Sadly there were a lot of these places around 10 to 15 years ago and had all kinds of old stuff to look at. A lot of them have closed up and the ones left don’t have the old equipment or tractors around as much any more. My son and I use to go lookin Sunday's 15/20 years ago at all the stuff that we wished we could have. Any way, son has grown up, 30 now, and has his own family and things to do, and not as much old stuff to look at. Time changes everything !

On with the pictures.

Ya my son and I still go for drives on Sunday's some times Aaron. Grandson comes too, sometimes. We look at
Cars trucks tractors, no guns thou. And not much of a selection of cars and trucks to look at. Cars all seem to look the same, if they even make cars and the trucks a just strange looking. No style anymore.

Here’s a nice looking tire. Front tire of one of those Chinese tractors. Back tire the same just bigger. This front tire would look great on the Case 446 on the rear.

They are known as "rice" tires on farm tractors, the tread bars are extra deep for running in the rice paddies and fields.

Have been running rice tires on the Mitsubishi for years now and really like them. Two negatives that need to be considered before purchase of these tires. #1 they ride a little rougher than regular farm tires. #2 they really ride rough with heavy duty chains on. Without chains in the spring they work great in the mud and wet soil on my 2wd loader tractor. And for regular use I like them enough that I put new ones on a couple of years ago.

The R14T was invented by Titan, division of Goodyear. Supposed to be a cross between the R1 and R4. By all reports, a superior tire for use in snow.

Also, a lot smoother tire going down the road. Not a big deal when tractors went 22 mph tops. Now high 20’s is slow. The last time I helped out with liquid manure hauling, the Buhler Versatile I was running did 40 mph.

I would of chose these tires for my Massey if they were available, but they were not an option. I read that Kubota has an agreement with Titan on these tires for offering them as a factory option.

Carlisle offers a similar tire, called a Versa Turf. It is an extra cost option on the John Deere X7 and 10xx series, possibly larger tractors also.

Galaxy and Nokian also have similar products. Nokian advertises theirs as a tractor snow tire.7664011B-CABF-4AC5-B498-79F42DF63376.png

Thanks for the information. Ya the tractors go by my house almost as fast as the cars. My road has a speed limit of 70 kilometres, but nobody does that slow. Hehe.
