Seems worth it to me, but just to find engine parts or engine, is the thing. And I could be wrong on my thought, never had one. there are members on here that will know. The two transmissions is a good thing, as far as I know. Having missing engine parts is kinda odd if the engine is good.

Well, the tractor followed us home. Got him to knock $50 off the price. The rear wheels and tires are pretty nice for a used set and the front are plenty useable. Not sure what the plans are for the tractor yet. It's missing quite a few parts. Maybe I should send it to MNGB.

Hey Cjet you got a good tractor project for a darn good price, looking at the pictures its a 69 /72 model year what is referred to as a short hood model, has hydraulics a nice plus there are lots of parts available as with Kohler K series engines, per the owners manual the engine is a k321 14 HP lots of parts available. Put together and you'll have a nice tractor really close to a Cub in preformance

I need to figure out just what's missing and then decide what to do. The engine is missing all electric/ignition related parts along with the carb and exhaust. So the hood just wraps over the fuel tank? is there a dash piece on the back?
Yes the hood fits over the fuel tank, there is a simple dash of sorts it is a vertical metal support panel would have had ignition switch, choke pull, light switch if equipped, some had ammeters some none, throttle was generally mounted on the steering column, I've had good luck with the 20/30 dollar aftermarket carbs available on either Ebay or Amazon, and points and condensers are also available there the coil is just a common auto 12 V coil Spark plug wire generally wire core SP is a Champion H10C exhaust is 1" pipe and I use the pepper can muffler. Here's a picture of an older short hood model with starter/gen but the panel on yours would be about the same without the gen hole I'l look tomorrow for better pictures

Thanks for the info, GB. I'm sure I will have many more in the future. I need to open up the engine, gear boxes, and hydraulic pump and see how they look inside. Never know how long these things may have sat with water in them. The guy we bought from said he had them opened up and filled them with 30w when he mothballed the project. I don't know what the clutch is like in these, but this one sems stiff and not much travel. It does seem to release though.

The clutch sounds normal and good they don't have much travel are a bit stiff there are no adjustments, yes check all the gearbox's for water if it sat outside if the the shift boots are missing they will have water in there,, there are no seals on the trnny input or output shafts so if the front trans overfills it will run into the second one and then on into the differential and then into the final drives, if the hydr pump can be turned by hand I wouldn't open it up that is a Century fox unit also used on Cub Cadets Wheelhorse's and Bolens I recommend getting the thumb drive that has over 34000 pages of information on the Power King tractors

I bought a tractor off a guy several years ago. Everything he had was sitting outside but one and it was his Jim Dandy all by itself in a small shed. It was in real good original shape. He said he had turned down 2k for it twice. He had it covered with a tarp. He said he never shows it to anybody in fear someone would come back and steal it. When I bought my MF12H to use on a hobby farm we had about 30 years ago the PO just upgraded to a Jim Dandy. It was amazing how strong that tractor was and how well built but at the same time not much to them.

Dad talked to one of his buddies about a Kohler K321 engine he has that had a rod failure. He told Dad to just take it and get it out of his shop. I guess its been sitting for 10-15 yrs and he decided he wasn't going to do anything with it. Hopefully it will have some parts that will swap over to the Economy/PK engine.

I think its from a cub cadet, but the carb, charging system, and starter should transfer over. Missing a coil but the rest of the ignition system is there. The original engine was missing all of these external parts. I don't know if any of the shrouding will transfer or not.

Its a QS engine Q=quite S= electric start yes many parts will transfer over even the cooling tins, as you can see the flywheel shroud has a large hole to provide air to the air cleaner this requires the larger odd shaped air cleaner assy that is connected to the flywheel tin via a rubber duct and that carb is for a Q engine the arm works opposite of a PK engine set up if you have the complete Q engine carb / choke/ throttle set up it will work and of course the air cleaner. If not the hole in the flywheel tin can be blocked off and a regular k321 round air cleaner can be used. the coil is just a plain automotive 12 volt coil like a Wells LU800. The rectifier - voltage regulator are the same as is the starter, Oh I just looked again the the Q throttle choke parts are on the cooling tin so your set to go and that carb will work
