Wood Splitter/Davit Crane

I decided to combine couple of my projects together. Wood was a little big this year, this’ll make it easier. Just added a second pipe to the splitter instead of using the long post for the trailer, it doesn’t need to be as high anyway. I have a receiver on the job so the hand winch or the 3500lb winch with it’s own batteries.

I have a homemade swinging boom on my 5x8 tlr and I use a long reach hyd jack to change the boom angle and it lays flat when not in use. also a boat winch for lifting the load and I can also two part the line. I know it will lift my 700 lb portable welder. I have a steel spacer box with a bottle jack to place under the post for heavy lifts.

Yeah I have a heavy homemade screw jack for under the trailer tongue as well.

Nice fabrication, Jason! You do some really nice work! I want to build some kind of boom for the MF1450. Not for wood though, don't burn wood anymore, just hauling junk around.

Here’s a quick one you can make for your new three point hitch Doug. Piece of 2” square tubing and I used 2 inch pipe from an old oil tank. I use my log tongs or come along or chain or whatever.

I like that. Need to build one of those for my boom pole. Give me the dimension for one short link and one tong. I can figure the rest from there.

Here you go Kenny

Think I can make something similar. Gotta study things a bit more. May need a dimension from the pivot down to the angle.

Very useful looking boom and tongs also, Jason! Thanks for the pics and info!

The 2" pipe looks to be around 4' long on the straight part? I've got 4' and a 42" pieces of 2-1/4 laying around here.

Do you think the logs and other items you haul are in the 2-300 lb range? I won't be hauling logs, but maybe some automotive parts in that weight range.

Hope you don't mind, Jason, but I started building today. Got some pics for the folks. Used my drawing to cut some metal and weld together.

I'll put it together tomorrow and we'll see how close I am to yours.

Yup that’s about right Doug. I’m going to add an adjustable cross stabilizer arm to make it a triangle for extra support. The basement support post I use is of course meant for straight up and down loads not side loads so I just want to ad extra as sometimes I’m pulling logs sideways

Thanks, Jason. You have no added weight on the front of the tractor but can still haul logs of say 250#?
