Mini bike then motorcycle

I've had a CB360 then a Silver wing 500 and between them, I liked the shaft driven silver wing better. I haven't ridden regularly in about 20 years, am about to get a 1200 sportster. I have it already, it's at my son's house, was my brother in laws bike, who died of cancer, and it got left to my son. There was talk at the time, as to which of us would get his sportster, my son or me.
The family decided to let my son have it and I was ok with it.
But now that my son has a 1-1/2 year old and a 2nd on the way in August, car seats and bikes don't jive/ it again is sitting. Add the recent price of gas, and my 70 miles a day commute, it seems a no brainer at least for the warm months.
He rode it quite a bit those first 2 years he had it, last year not as much. Just enough to keep it freed up.

I haven’t really found the money savings riding a bike.

150 a year for insurance
250 dollar set of tires every year
50 dollar oil change every season
Plus other routine maintenance

if I rode every day for 5 months I’d save 364 dollars. I’m spending 450 a year to have the bike. Not including the cash I paid for it. So I’m losing 86 dollars a year at minimum.

I can’t ride every day. I refuse to ride in the rain and don’t take it if the weather guesser guesses rain

I still have my 1100 Yamaha Virago but not ridden it more than 5 miles at a time since my neck surgery. I've owned countless motorcycles over the years including Goldwings, 750 SSport, 750 Hondamatic, and likely 30 more street bikes, and a couple hundred more on/off and pure dirt/race bikes, but those days are behind me. Some may think I'm exaggerating but Craig can stand witness for me. So wish I'd have kept many of them as I'd be pretty well off selling them today!!

I haven't had a couple hundred but dozens would be a good guess. Ridden in this country and Japan. Enjoyed it immensely and have many great memories to keep me company. Still enjoy looking at bikes from the 60's and 70's.
BUT, The thought of falling over on one now hurts a lot just thinking about it. Like Daniel I don't think I could ride one more than 2 miles on a smooth road and the pain would be getting to me.
Ride safe and enjoy yourselves.

I'm not a bike person but have had this in my shed for the last 25 years or so. Anyone care to guess what it is?

My last Bike was about 35 years ago. 1975 Gold Wing full dress. Rode a lot of miles on it with the wife. Very comfortable quiet ride. Job change and did not have the free time as was on call or stand by most of the time. Then got into fishing again and Bass Boats took over the bike position.

it isnt Sears.....

Im guessing 1978 and it has a Bridgestone 60cc 2 stroke single cyl engine ;)
Yes, since you said Bridgestone, it's engine looks identical to half of the Bridgestone "Twin 160" I once had! What's left of it is in the old gully we'd throw stuff in to control wash. My mind just needs reminders at times.

Bridgestone is correct.....It is about a 73 Bridgestone Chibi. 60cc. They were pretty much out of the motorcycle business by then and a company from Rockford Illinois was building them from leftover parts from what I understand.

When my older brother was in high school Dad bought him a "Doodle Bug" scooter. Believe it was either from Coast to Coast or Western Auto. He rode it the 2 miles one way to school and back for about 3 years. Then Dad sold it to my Uncle and he rode to work in town where he was a Chevy Mechanic. I got bypassed in the deal some how..
