Runs the 1/4-mile and then out-of-gas
I haven’t saw this in years.
In about 95 a guy in town had an S10 v8 swapped. He drove it around on the street but on Saturday nights he’d dominate the drag strip. He would beat everyone in the 1/4 mile.
I wish they still did that. Every car guy was there on the weekends. I’d take my cars as a teenager and run them just for fun. Ran a 12.2 second pass in my SRT4 on slicks there. Next pass I blew the axles apart…

That SRT4 couldn't have been stock....?

I drove it off the show room floor brand new in 2003. Drove it 5,000 miles then the fun began.
Bigger turbo, better manifold, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, head work, forged flat top pistons, forged rods, exhaust and a slew of other things….it was an absolute monster.
I was 19 when I bought that car. I had just started at the mine and was pouring money into it.
On street tires 1st, and 2nd were half throttle or you’d just blow the tires off. Roll into 3rd you could finally go full throttle.
I crashed it over a 100mph on a back road. It was not fun. Somehow I walked away without a mark.
Fastest srt4 was built by Darrell cox and would do a 9 something second pass. He was shooting for 8s but not sure if he ever made it. I stopped following that in around 2008.
The white car was also pretty built. DOHC turbo motor. Caged and the suspension was setup for auto cross. Never took it to the strip. It wasn’t built for speed. 3.94 final drive and a small turbo. It was built to make power quick and it would for sure!
Black car was also an 04 i bought new and drove to work because the srt wasn’t completely street able anymore.

I've never been a fan of blowers sticking out of the hoods of street cars, but they ain't my car---LOL! There are several around here. I have even seen guys gut a blower and put it over a carb. The dang thing was just for looks and the scoop did function as the air cleaner.
A former co-worker is building a period correct hot rod Model A. He just got this cute little blower yesterday and sent this pic today. It's for the flathead 4 cylinder. I can appreciate this one!
Will be interesting to see this hot rod completed!

I've had thoughts of a small turbo on my most recent truck project which is actually powered by a slant 6... If the right parts fall into my lap like the automatic to 4 speed conversion parts did, it may happen. (Not sure if I'm gonna use the 4 speed stuff or not yet/ I found another pile of parts that will let me put a newer later 80s/early 90s Dakota 4 speed auto behind the slant 6. Things like a conversion plate to bolt up a small block trans to my engine that are extremely hard to find, I have a trans here that would go right in there with that adapter plate but now I'm not sure which way I want to go on that)
At the cruise night last night there was an 80s regal that had dual quads sticking they the hood, with no air cleaners on them.
There was a Fairmont there with a 302 and a couple of v8 rangers too.
There was one nice looking well done up S10 v8 that wasn't a hillbilly butchered up mess like most of those I see.
The one ranger was decent/ the other one was all hill- jacked.
But among the rest were too many new vehicles and too many old ones that have been "LS swapped" That whole thing has been way overdone. Id rather see the 50s 60s and 70s cars more like how they were back in the day/ not all done up "stock" necessarily but with the
HP mods that were common in the car's heyday.
