So I finally started on the JD140H3 to get it ready for winter. Took the deck off and cleaned it. Put in storage. Oil change, greased 12 nipples, lubed other moving parts. Put the thrower on. I’m amazed that I found the thrower belt amongst the junk. Greased and lubed thrower. Put the deflector cylinder on. Checked operations. Checked air filter and hydro fluid. Put my wheel weights on, that I bought about six months ago. Put the rear blade on. Has teeth on it to ruffle up the ice, so we don’t fall down while walking to cars. Checked tire pressures.

There are a lot of Deere's with hydraulics, depending on the model and options you had between 1 to 2 sets of remotes on the front, they also had kits to install a set on the rear.

Depending on which model, there are two, the H1 version and the H3. The H1 mainly had a center hydraulic lift, but there was a kit where you could run lines to a single set of remotes to the front. The H3 version had center and two sets of remotes at the front. Like I said in the previous post, you could also run a single set of remotes to the rear, mainly for the three point hitch attachment you could install.

This tractor is a 1970. It has the two sets of ports on the front and one set on the back. The rear blade is lifted by a rod from the cylinder that lifts the mower deck. I don’t use the rear ports, yet. It’s quite a capable tractor. Front wheel bearings are tapered, like cars from years ago. Dual brakes like the farm tractors. It’s amazing how well they work to get out of a spot, if you need them.
This is the first year for the wheel weights. So it should have good traction. And I never have had much trouble with getting stuck any way. Weights were a good price and there a neat add on.

Kster526, they are gators, a ATV tire. They look like a tractor tire, that’s why I put them on. I got two sets years ago for a great price. The four tires came of one atv. The ones on the John Deere are 26x12x12. The other set if on my Massey Ferguson 14. They are 26x10x12.

Looking good. Been thinking about adding the hydraulic adjustment to the thrower on the 1512 Cub. Ports are there. I think I would want ti for rotation rather than the distance adjustment. From what little I have used a walk behind thrower past years I had to change the direction a lot more than the distance.

Have a pair of yellow rims with the bar tires very similar to yours on my Cub. Bought a RAM off a kid a couple years ago he wanted to get rid of them for $25 for the pair. You bet I took them. Have FMC weights on now but have 75 lb weights if I need more.
