I'm sure you would have done well and had a blast doing it if given the chance, Lorna! Not that I'm mechanically capable in any way (nor did I ever look like Pam Hardy, LOL) but I appreciate the sound of a good engine and as I may have said before, I'd love to have driven a fast track car.
Mopar really had it going on back in the 60's Eric! And of course the engine design today for the nitro classes are based off the 426 hemi. Don't matter what make they call the car. Definitely 1990! 275 MPH and 5 second Funny cars! They are running near 340 now with ET's under 4 seconds too, in 1000 feet rather than a quarter mile! Very cool articles, Eric! And this article I saved from Hot Rod Magazine in 1990….

I have several boxes of old magazines still, Jim. The ones you mentioned and ones like "Super Chevy" and "Chevy Power". Of course old stock car racing magazines too. Even have a pile of old "National Dragster" newspapers from back then. Some date back into the 60's. Someone gave me a bunch after the flood and I kept them. Will be a shame when I finally have to throw them away. Two years ago I threw away five boxes of Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines starting in the early 70’s. I tired to sell them and couldn’t even give them away. I drooled over them back in the day.
