Definitely a blizzard!

I couldn't get on the internet yesterday. Power was out for a couple of hours due to this a couple miles from here. Crossarm broke off. Photo credit, Journeyman Lineman Dustin Brimm of West River Electric co. Those guys did a great job in lousy weather! There were a few more power 'bumps" but no more outages.

Then about an hour after the power was restored, internet and cable TV bit the dust. Didn't get that back until this morning some time.

This next bunch of pictures is yesterday when the snow was starting to slack off but not the 50-60 mph wind.

I'll put today's snow removal pics in the next post.

I'm not sure I would call this "Playing" in the snow, as I'm pretty beat! 4 hours plowing and the MF8E worked great! Toward the end I think the power steering pump that powers the blade lift cylinder was getting a bit hot. Small amount of transmission fluid puked out the vent. Darn tough little tractor though. It held up better than me! Here's aftermath and removal pics.

Eww!! Glad you guys are weathering the weather ok.

I hope to not see as much snow as you have there total during our winter.
That's what I want too Aaron! I hope this is it for awhile.

That's one thing about SD I do not miss, the wind! The snow was better then the mostly wet crap we get here in eastern PA, but I love our trees and mountains.
Whenever I watch the Pocono NASCAR race It sure makes me want to visit that beautiful part of the country! I've been in the Smokey Mountains a couple times, but never up north further when we've been out east.

I had a hairy type deer visit during the blizzard but it didn't help move any snow---LOL!

If you ever make it out east to sight see central wv has some of the most beautiful scenery in the east. Seneca rocks, black water falls, and all the mountain streams are beautiful places to visit. Just gotta be careful where you stay or try to visit away from the tourist areas. Some very risky areas.

Funny you mentioned the Pocono 500, my uncle lives about 10-15 minutes from the track. It use to be real nice around here about 20-30 years ago, but then we got a big influx from the cities. You would quite comfortable with the weather at the track, its on a mountain top/ ridge line and it can get a bit windy there.

Thanks, Noel! 12" at the airport a couple miles away. I imagine it was similar here. 50-60 mph wind so the drifts were pretty deep.

Now the updated snowfall total is 17" out here in our area. Hard to measure when it comes down sideways!

Sounds beautiful Aaron! We were in Wytheville, Virginia in 2018. West Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina are all within and hour or so of driving. All beautiful---and short or no winter---LOL! My 101 year old Aunt lives in the Wytheville area. We went to give her a 100 year birthday party a couple months early as other relatives were going to be there on the actual day. Drove down to Georgia to hang out in my Dad's little hometown too for a few days. No living relatives there any more unfortunately but got a cousin and her family to meet us there. It was great being in that part of the country again.

I've been a NASCAR fan since 1965 and having it on TV for every race has been fun for me! That's a nice area it looks like! I'm pretty used to the wind though, obviously! Cows fall over out here when the wind stops---LOL! Pretty funny how folks leave the cities to get away from that and where they settle they try to establish the big city mentality they were trying to get away from! It's happening here too. Califorians are moving to Colorado in droves and the Colorado people move here!

Nice old GMC pickup! I bet you wish the weather was where you could go and enjoy that camper!

Thanks Paul, I've got 3 old GMC's, We've owned that one since 1979. It's a 1972 and so is that camper. It ain't a normal cabover camper. It has an extra axle because it's so huge! I still need to finish fabricating a special rear bumper for the truck before we can actually use it for camping. Another of those things to do! All the things to do cut into the time for things like camping. We did do a lot of camping in that truck in our younger years, in a topper, open box and with an 8' cabover camper! Maybe again!

I’ve never seen a camper like that before. Must be hard to steer Doug. ?
Sure is a good size.

Noel
It steers real well. Like Marty said above, the truck really doesn't know its there, besides weight. Those rear wheels will scrub a bit in tight turns and if a person is going off road camping it is possible to lift a drive wheel on the truck enough where you would wish you had a posi differential! I haven't had it on the highway. Just moved it around here a few times. My wife's uncle traveled all over with it for many years!

I remember those longer slide in with the extra axle. We had a 10' I think hung off the back. The ole 76 Chevy C20 never knew it was on there.

Please keep all that white crap out your way,.....we don't want it

This one has 6' hanging off behind the box of the truck. There sure may have been ones with longer overhangs though! The company marketed them as a "Detachable Motor Coach"!

I don't want that white crap either! Think you should be a nice guy and take some of it---"spread the wealth" you know!

Only got a few flakes here yesterday. Temp dropped down to 16° F this morning but at least the wind quit. Blew like crazy for the last 2 days.

Well the wind is more livable if there's no snow blowing sideways in it! Glad it dodged you Roger!

Freezing rain here, lots of power outages and broken trees.

The storm track sure looked like it may head for Ontario, sounds like the U.P. in Michigan got pounded pretty hard. At least it wasn't blizzard for you!

Looks like New York state is getting it now too! You folks out there be safe!

Today I moved the vehicles and plowed that area too, decided to let most of the patio be. The 3' drift would have had to be hand shoveled as it's way too deep for the little snowblower and too confined for maneuverability for the tractor. Did a lot of hand work as it was. I decided moving the camper wasn't needed right now. I'm doing a nuclear stress test on the ticker tomorrow and they could have had that stuff hooked up to me while shoveling snow---LOL!

Are the tires/wheels on the camper on springs. I guess they would have to be. But in some cases it would lift the truck to cause wheel spin. ?
Be easy on the ticker, slow and steady. Have a good day, Doug.

Yeah on rough terrain it's possible to get a drive wheel on the truck too light and spin. The amount of weight put on the truck is adjustable by raising or lowering the axle on the camper. This camper has leaf spring setup similar to a mobile home axle and uses a mobile home wheel and tire combo. It originally had some kind of torsion bar rear suspension but a torsion bar broke so my wife's uncle (who is a great fabricator with an engineering degree) built the leaf spring setup.

I think the ticker will be ok. Been having some pain off and on for years and the doc said we should get it checked out.

Thanks for the reply Noel!
