Hello all,

Boom light on my Bobcat 337 excavator went out at work, run up to the dealer to get a new one. They discontinued the halogen bulb and replaced them with led, which is fine with me. Get back to the shop, install the new light, go to plug it in, but the connector is bigger on the new light. Call the dealer up to see what's going on, they told me they changed connectors with the LED lights, I said fine, I need a new style male connector...nope. they don't sell just the connector, they want me to buy a $150 harness...nope. I cut the connectors off, soldered them up and put double wall heatshrink on them.

I understand things get discontinued and changed, but there is no reason I should need a $150 harness for a $0.25 connector. And I know that harness would not be the easiest thing in the world to change.

Thanks for hearing my rant,

Guys, ya got it all wrong. The guy making the wire harness barely had enough work, so rather than lay the guy off they are trying to sell more.

What a joke! I would chop that connector off too and spliced it.

This is the way of the machinery world in my opinion.

My favorite has been Joy Mining. I've been dealing them since around 2003. They will sell you a part for a while. Part number 12345. Well you call up and say hey I need part number 12345. Sorry that part is NLA! But we have a new part 12345-1 and its 200 dollars more. Well they have you over a barrel so you order the part. Lay it next to the old part and its identical in every way except now instead of one bolt hole being 1/4" its 3/8". New and improved!

Can you find the part you want a Grainger or some such? The people making the wiring harness had to get the individual connector some where.

My wife used a sepap machine for sleep apnia. A 50c plastic piece on the head gear broke. Took her to town to buy the piece, at the store I wondered around looking while she went to the counter. The wife comes away from the counter and tells me they say the part is nla and she is going to have to buy a complete new machine I had just been looking at another head gear with the exact same plastic piece for sale brand new. So I go to the counter I take the number off the new head gear with me. Told them I wanted the replacement part for that. They tell me they can't get that. I say " So you are telling me you are selling bran-new equipment that you can't provide parts or maintenance for. They hemed and hawed a bit then went in the back and got me the part. I might have had a problem if there had been fewer customers watching with great interest. Don
