Installing a loader on the Mitsubishi

Last fall I started thinking about installing a loader on the Mitsubishi MT 2201. The tractor is light in the front so I had to add weights when most anything was on the back. Figured the loader would kill two birds at once.

This loader showed up on Craig's list and the seller offered to deliver it when he was going by the next week. Doesn't appear to have been abused and the cylinder seals appear to be good. Was holding my breath and hoping it would fit this tractor. You can't tell it from this photo but the front axle is set back on these tractors making the turning radius very short and handy.

So far anyway it appears to be a perfect fit. Drove the tractor into it and there is clearance all the way around. Fabricated a cross member and tacked everything together

No sooner was it on the floor and the welding inspector shows up unannounced. Thankfully she signed off on the work so far.

So here is a photo of it setting on the cross member. It was so hot and humid today that things progressed pretty slow with lots of fluid breaks and to cool off.
Tomorrow it is suppose to cool off to the middle 70's so I'm hoping to get the mounting done.

Glad the inspector passed your welds! That will be a nice attachment for the tractor.

You mounting a PTO driven pump or running of the tractor's hydraulics?
To start with I'm going to try and tap into the tractors hydraulics. Fortunately the hydraulic pump is is external on this tractor so there are several places to tap into the system. If that turns out to be too slow I will have to look into a different option. The PTO is not doable as it is not live.

Could be I am missing something but I only see a single point of attachment to the tractor. It needs another cross member near the front of the tractor and a brace to the top of the existing column to work against the torsional force on your first cross member. The leverage aplied to the first cross member will destroy it quickly. the cross member you have built looks great but I can't see it handling the job alone. Studying factory loaders to see how they are attached would be a good idea. Don

Was thinking the same thing!!!!
Missing something I think.

Thanks Daniel.
Progress has been a little slower than I had hoped for. Heat and humidity has kept me indoors more than I wanted. The loader is off the tractor right now and is being painted. The diagonal braces are complete and made out of 2" tube running from the top of the uprights down to the front of the frame.
Have to do some more research on the hydraulics. This tractor is equipped with hydraulic leveling on the 3 point hitch. If I tap into the output of the hydraulic pump and install the wrong control valve there won't be any power to the 3 point. Hydraulics aren't my best subject so my old head is getting a work out.
When the loader is back on the tractor I will post more photos.
Thanks for your interest.

The loader has been completed now for a while and I'm surprised at how fast it is. The tractors pump must be in good condition. Will have to do something with the bucket. It's shaped more like a shoe box laid on it's side than a loader bucket. Makes it hard to stack anything in it. Someone added a cutting edges to three sides that are far heavier than necessary. The one on the bottom looks like it's off of a maintainer blade and was severely worn on one end. Not a pretty installation. Other than that it seems to work quite well.

Actually I traded it to Daniel for a project he wanted to do.
And I haven't had or taken the time to start that project, but intend to this winter! I need it to mow around the former manure pit next to the water and other areas I can't reach with a mower deck. I didn't know it came from South Dakota Chris!

Yep right out of this yard. My Son is a dispatcher so I was able to throw it on a truck for Brian.
Chris, do you have any completed photos of the tractor and loader?
Here are some photos of the loader. I'm 6' 1" so that will give you an idea as to the lift. You can see what remains of the old bucket in the background. I tried cutting the top off the bucket so I could straighten it but it was too warped out of shape. Still going to lengthen the control handles and spread them apart a little. The "A" Farmall is not mine. Need to get it running for the owner. If it was a Super A it might be mine. :)
