94 GMC K1500 a project by accident

I can remember back when all we ever used to pull trailers was step-bumper hitches! I pulled countless racecars and street cars around with a double axle trailer just using step bumper hitches! Just look over the bumper real well to make sure it's not rusted out and it should work fine for lighter single axle trailer duties providing the trailer angle isn't too crazy!

Back in the late 50s early 60s we rented a hitch that just clamped on the bumper to pull a trailer. There was part of one of those type on the back of the DA 916 that I got this year.

I agree DAC. I think it should be fine as long as the angle of the hitch isn't too bad.
I do remember bending a lot of bumpers back in the day though lol.
But this should fine fine and no over loads.
It's a 12 ft single axle and I would be hauling two garden tractors on each trip. Although one of the tractors is fairly heavy at 11-1200 pounds. So between the two tractors on that trip I would guess the trailer would have about 2,000 pounds on it.
My only real concern is the bumper says 350 pounds maximum tongue weight.
I guess centering the tractors on the trailer would keep the tongue weight down.

This truck has turned into a project. After getting it all back together and road worthy I drove it close to 500 miles week before last.
Then after it had sat a few days to just move it a few feet.
I backed the truck about 15 straight backwards and rear brakes locked !
So I put it in low lock and made it pull itself about 15 feet forward again and parked it. Where it sat for about a week.
Yesterday I put a new rubber rear brake hose on it (the one with the check valve).
While I was at it I put a new thermostat in it trying to raise the running temperature a little. It still does get as warm as it should by the gauge.
I replaced the worn out wipers today.
Now if I replace that drivers side mirror and figure out where that whistling vacuum leak is coming from the truck should be about completely lined out.
It really isn't the trucks fault.
This truck has spent more time sitting than being driven and that is hard on machinery.
Plus the last owner didn't know anything about maintenance and what he does know shouldn't have been applied to the truck.
