Getting ready for Spring

Saturday I hitched up the spring tooth digger and went over the garden, I had plowed it last fall so now it was nice and mellow and the digger did good, my intention is to rake and dethatch the lawn pick up the thatch and spread it on the garden along with compost from prior years thatching and then work it in with the tiller, but that won't happen until it warms up some hopefully Wed & or Thursday

Looking at investing in a Estate Rake to put the thatch and extra grass in a windrow for easier pickup. Rock rake don't work good for the fine grass.

Are you thinking of the rotary wheel type rake? An inline one or the V type, my brother had one he didn't like it and gave it to his son, I tried it briefly and I think they would work ok but require a lot of adjusting to get the set up right his was the inline one. I built a dethatcher from teeth I bought at Fleet Farm and it works good I have it set up with a sleeve hitch and when its full I lift it and dump the contents and go on I have to many obstacles in my yard for estate rake

Looking at the wheel type rake, in line. I have fairly large open areas, the trees/obsticals are mostly in a row. Slopping ground but relatively flat. After mowing & it needs to be picked up I can blow it all toward one strip and rake it together from there is kind of the plan. Or could rake the whole thing and saw the wear and tear on the mower. Never been around one and don't know of anyone around here that has one. If they are anything like the hay rakes, they have to prety much ride on the ground to work right, kind of float along. Haven't decided for sure yet. Need to finish mowing for the first time first, hopefully tomorrow.

Yesterday was nice here in western MN and I got about 93% of the lawn dethatched and pickup up with the Power King and bagger went good dusty as all get out lawn look good , now its rained a bit this AM so the small area that's left will have to wait

I have an estate rake. In line I guess. Lots of adjustments if needed. Depth and angle. Weight boxes on it to if needed. Works great.

What is the brand of that rake. Haven't seen one with the boxes and all the adjust-ability. I think I would want a 4 wheel, 6 might be to wide for some of the area.
