Yes it's likely the old fuel in wick preventing the lighter from igniting the wick. I have a round version of kerosene heater I had to buy when our power went out over 2 weeks and used it so I didn't have to run the generator 24/7. These heaters can really crank out the heat when you need it!

Is the hardener the very same you used first time? Reason I ask is newer JD paint I was told is synthetic enamel. If you used basic enamel hardener and different the 2nd painting that could have caused it. A paint shop told me he "thinks" acrylic enamel hardener will work with synthetic...
