We have this beauty at work this week. One owner. The odometer says 22,000, but I assume it’s probably turned over at least once, so probably 122,000. It’s possible though, it’s clean. It has a dent in the passenger side fender we are fixing. A2E857F9-64A0-4442-B133-881D3011DC46.jpeg76EA4233-B09F-4D42-B4F1-2487580443CE.jpeg

I never understood why they changed the model designation on the old body style when they came out with the (then) new one and moved the old C/K to the new one. It would have been more sense to leave well enough alone and use the new designation on the new series of truck

Hate to see bumps like that on a nice survivor automobile.
Is the guy getting up in age?
70s probably. He said he has no plans of ever selling this truck.
That's a nasty spot too.. But the dent probably will be the easy part..
The part that would scare me is the matching of
40-50 year old 2 tone paint with pin striping .
Pretty truck though....
The dent is fixed, and ready for paint. It was tight, but it came out. The paint won’t be a problem. The color just needs to be blended in, so even if it’s not a perfect match, it won’t be noticeable. The stripe is a bit of a problem though. This fender was painted before, and instead of taking the stripe off and doing it right, they just taped it and painted up to it on both sides. We can’t really peel it off, so we will have to put the new one over it.

I never knew that. I saw R10 on the tag on the key and had to look it up to see what the difference was. I guess the big difference was in 87, they switched from carburetors to TBI. That, along with the new models coming out is why they changed it. I agree it would have made more sense to leave it alone though.

yup me too. I have a truck all blown apart that I need to find someone who's better with a paint gun than me... I've painted 1 car and that was like 1986, the paint I used isnt even sold anymore I don't think (Centari) base/ clear was just being talked about back then...

The truck I want painted, I would like it lacquer as that was original. I really don't want the base/clear look but it is probably inevitable if I ever can get it done.

It does kinda make you wonder how many would do a lacquer job anymore.
Lot of work to rub it out...and to keep it up there after...nope nope not me.... ;)

The super high gloss sheen isn't what I'm after, Bill. I like the look of it even after it has dulled a bit. That truck's paint still had a decent look to it after 40 years outside, and never had the care you are talking about. Hard for me to describe why I prefer it.

I get what you're saying. Lacquer has a unique look to it...Not bad by any means...definitely more forgiving...
