Blew power steering hose one the first model Legacy. 25 hp Kohler and 60 deck. Fill tube under seat does not have dipstick. Has clear tube by rear end . Is this type F trans fluid?? oil looks red but not sure its trans that leaked out??

I thought this PDF might be handy, if you don't already have it. It's from Tecumseh, and I'm guessing you have the Peerless 2600 (noted by Tecumseh for being possibly assembled by Sundstrand?). This is Technician manual, should have the answer for you.
