Kablewie, a tractor my son has, which is basically the same as out LGT 165 Ford, has gone Kablewie. It has a 12hp k301 engine but should have a 16hp k341 engine. Any way son was using it and, kablewie. Third engine in 8 years or so. Hardly ever gets used. Any way kablewie. Will see what happened some day. Kablewie twice on me, once for him. I’ve been sorta looking for a 16 hp k341 engine for it for years.

Noel.

I tried looking up who makes the Kablewie tractor to get a better understanding of this thread, but no such luck. Is it an import or something? And most search engines want to give results for Cablewire instead due to the letters for the search.

Who makes the K341 engine then for the Kablewie brand?

This is what Kablewie means Maverick.

It's just living up to it's name, Noel! If you would change it's name to "Reliable" or "Bulletproof", it won't be mad about the derogatory name calling any more---LOL!

Sorry about you guys loosing one of the snow movers!

A little update. Not really sure what happened. Crank looks reasonable. Was some oil in it. Just one of those mysteries that may never be figured out. I may go look at it tomorrow. But I’m no engine expert. Find parts or another engine or what ever and try to get it going again.

Definition of Kablewie :
undependable, untrustworthy, irresponsible, reckless, fickle, capricious, irregular, erratic, unpredictable, inconstant, mutable, faithless, untrue, flighty, slippery, questionable, open to question, open to doubt, doubtful, dubious, suspect, unsound, tenuous, flimsy, weak, unsubstantial, implausible, unconvincing, unsupported, unsubstantiated, fallible, shaky, rocky, risky, chancy, disreputable, specious, defective, inaccurate, vague, incorrect, wide of the mark, off-target, wrong, iffy, dicey, dodgy.

There was more but the site wouldn't let me download it all...

Thanks Doug.

Oh, so Kablewie = Kohler. Got it now. Wish I knew the engine brand prior. I had a Craftsman DYT4000 with a Kohler, yes it too was a Kohler Kablewie engine. After $500 with an engine swap, It got a Kohler M18 V-twin that runs like a champ. It's hard to kill the Magnum series. The Command series is reliable as well, but fewer to be found.

On some of the lawn equipment sites I looked at for a replacement engine, many people stated to repower with a Harbor Freight engine instead.

I havent seen too many problems with the 10/12 hp Ks but the 14/16 are more prone to throwing a rod and sometimes blowing a hole in the block... not that they are bad engines but they are old and most have served a full life.... and a freshly rebuilt 10 has more usable power than some old well used 16..... so I would suggest building a K301 block for the Ford.

I've got 3 Massey Fergusons now and 2 are re-powered by me. I got the 8E with a blown up 8 hp Kohler, and it has had 2 engines on it since that blown original one. The MF12G is repowered with the Harbor Freight 13 hp "Predator" Honda clone. Replaced a Tecumseh HH120. I did that swap 7 years ago and that engine has performed great! I hope that the Kohler K321 on the 1450 won't go "Kablewie" on me after the overhaul I'm currently doing to it!

Kinda like a light bulb Doug. Ya never know when it going to go out. Hehe.
Any way. Have a kit ordered for a 14hp engine that we have. But be three weeks before it gets here. We have some 14’s that have short crankshafts. Must of been generator engines or some different application. May take the 12 crank and put it in one of those 14’s and see if that will run for the time being.
Any way. Will still be looking for a 16 hp k341 engine. Ya need hp to blow snow in my experience. Ya the other smaller engines have there place. Yard work, stuff like that. Snow blowing. You need hp. And in my case, if I had a 20 hp engine to put on the Ford. That’s what I’d do. I believe that would be the answer. The Case 224, 14 hp k321 will cut grass like any thing and not lose revs. Had it out in the snow yesterday, with the 4’ snowthrower, ya way under powered. Just my take on it.
About how much money would that engine be Doug, you put in the MF 12. Don’t know if they make a 15 hp or not. I might consider that the next time the light bulb goes out. Hehe.
The Ford has a 42” snow blower. It should have a 17.5 hp motor to run it. At a minimum.

Harbor Freight down here has a 22 HP V-Twin:

Not sure if you guys can get them up there.

Those are nice engines. I have one sitting in dad's garage I bought 3 years ago. I had planned to build a big cub 128. Ended up scrapping the tractor it was going to go into. Just lost interest in the project.

A guy in town has a 3xx John deere that originally had an Onan. He swapped the same engine in it and he said it runs better than it did when he bought the tractor new.
