Picked this up for a song this afternoon. Late 80s I believe. Troy built I guess. Dont know what this Tilling Transmission means.
Will see if I can get it running and deal with a few issues that I have noticed. Seems there is a rod or 2 missing for the deck lift part, no side panels, other cosmetic stuff.
Either flip it or keep as a spare mower, my other mower getting pretty long in the tooth, but still plugging away.

I would guess Tilling Transmission means it is geared low and slow.

Did bolens sell out to troy built or did they build lower end models for them?

I always liked the bolens color scheme. I'm not sure what year our Hydro Eliminator 1900 is. It is a heavy built SOB! I need to get it back out and mow with it again. Cuts better than the X570 with the free float deck. So smooth.

Bolens got into financial Troubles and Gradenway bought them out. Gardenway owned Troy Built also.

I cut the grass with the ST120 the other day, does a nice job, but deck is only 36". I haven't even sharpened the blades yet.

Poncho, here's the TroyBuilt tractor that we got years ago. It's about the same year and model as yours I believe.

It's a TroyBuilt Hydro14.

They didn't even try to hide that its the same tractor. Throw it down a different paint line.

Bolens was sold to TroyBuilt in the late 1990's. Equipment was marketed under the Gardenway brand. In Sept of 2001 it was bought by MTD. This is my understanding for what I have read on the Bolens name.
