I have a 1936 Sears Handiman WT with a cast iron shroud Briggs model Z engine and it has two dipsticks [one in the base of the engine and the one that stands behind the tractor]
I know the dipstick that stands behind it is a few quarts low - but there are concerns about the other dipstick as well....

The engine oil dipstick has no marks what-so-ever. Not a "fill to" line, no knurled place, nothing. Just a steel rod hanging from under the cap. How's a dummieeee like me to know how much oil to put in?

I can get one tomorrow [if I remember]

Of course theres also the dipstick I got it from in the first place. :p
[I'd be willing to bet you've seen it before]

My mind for some reason filled up with sarcastic dipstick comments. ;);)
I believe the dipstick that is low needs to come around more often to get refilled to the brim.

that looks like the same one used with an angled pipe on the front of most DB suburbans. I assumed it to be a factory briggs part
