Craftsman GT6000 not running good

Next up was the Yanmar 1510D. My nephew was using it and ran it out of fuel last week. Tried putting fuel in last week but it wouldn't go. I wasn't sure of the bleeding procedure, so I looked it up last night. It's pretty straight forward with 2 bleed screws at the filter housing, one bleeder at the injector pump, and then crack the lines on the injectors. I just did the bleed screws and gave it a try. It sputtered a few times, then nothing for about 4-5 revolutions, then some smoke and away it went. Got lucky and didn't need to bleed the injector lines.
