Before my deck oiling experiment. I used Rustoleum Proffessional paint on the deck. Also the primer underneath.
Interesting..... so you don't technically paint. Only a rust converter, and EZ Slide. On decks with rust I first remove the loose rust and scale with a needle/scaler, then treat with rust converter. Then I put at least 2 coats of "EZ Slide" which is a graphite coating that usually lasts 2 to 3 years. Grass can still stick, but not as fast, and is much easier to remove. I get the EZ Slide at TSC.
Yes, and it holds up very well. Better than paint does!Interesting..... so you don't technically paint. Only a rust converter, and EZ Slide.
Does it stay that way? When you live in the country there is so much junk goes through the deck That the paint doesn't last all that long. I also find even with a brand new deck large juicy weeds tend to stick under the deck no matter what.Smooth as silk under deck.
The finish is still excellent after 7 years however i can mow my lawn in 20 minutes and only maybe 10 times a year. The paint is a very tough Acrylic Urethane enamel. I didnt buy the paint!!! Heck no,,left over paint from painting someone’s truck,,Does it stay that way? When you live in the country there is so much junk goes through the deck That the paint doesn't last all that long. I have a gallon of Fluid Film too. Most definitely cheaper that way. But thick like molasses. Always thin it with mineral spirits. Not sure if that's what they recommend off hand but seems to work..I have come to the conclusion that the fluid film works very well for me. Better than the vegetable oil. The veg oil in some parts of the deck allowed grass to build up some, on certain deck/blade areas. I bought two spray cans, which lasted most of the season. Hardly any grass has stuck to the deck. Of course I sprayed the deck before each time I mowed. Spray cans are almost gone. The built in deck cleaner port works pretty well.
I bought a 1 gallon container of Fluid film, with a sprayer to spray on the deck next year.
Next mowing season I will be trying that out. Hope it works well. My back up plan is maybe a paint pad, or paint brush.
I will wish all a Merry Christmas, and Happy New year! Pat
Yes I'll try to spray it. Thought about warming the spray cup just before I spray it. But maybe that won't work? If not I'll try thinning it.I have a gallon of Fluid Film too.
