Fabricating a tow mower

Work has been going slow on the tow mower its just to hot & humid in the shop to work long periods and I've had other things to catch up on, but did get a gas tank mount biult and found a good usable tank so that's coming along, have tried running the engine a couple of time just squirting gas into the carb and its a runner

Well had a good productive day, got the gas tank installed put the engine in place connect a gas hose with shutoff inline filter and put gas in the tank turned the gas valve on no leaking out of the carb advanced the throttle to full activating the choke used some jumper cables and cranked the engine it started right up and ran pretty good did want to hunt so I adjusted the main jet to enrich the mixture and it smoothed out and runs good. used a prybar to slide the engine forward to tighten the belt and the deck came to life. So got to work on making a clutch system and that's coming along should have it figured out tomorrow (I hope)

Well got the clutch finished up and working, the engine was starting and running good but today it decided to act up, didn't want to start and run so I removed the idle screw shot some carb cleaner in the port then blew it out with compressed air that did the trick for starting and idling. So I started the Country Squire and drove outside to give it a try but after 4 / 5 minutes the engine just stopped did have the jumper cable with and no recoil on the engine I drove back to the shop it started and ran a bit rough so I adjusted the main jet it smoothed out and was running went back out this time it ran about 7/9 minutes and did the same shut down so went back to the shop removed the main jet shot carb cleaner in blew it with air reinstalled and started the engine it reved up ran nice went out and drove around cutting a few weeds and some taller grass clumps this time it ran as it should for 15 minutes or more, back to the shop idled it down and it idled down and ran on had to find a jumper wire to connect to the mag kill wire to stop the engine that was a good problem. Tomorrow its to install some belt guides an engine stop switch and a starter push button starter switch and then a couple more test runs.

That looks like it’s ready for some work. Nice job especially using what you have. Are those wheels from Harbor Freight. I have about three pairs of them on things they work great and only $4. each on sale.

I'm leaning towards the green also Gary. Building stuff like you do is always going to have a couple little bumps in the road, but you iron them out fast, every time!

Nice job!

Yep the last pair of new ones I have must have bought them 10 years ago have them on many things and yes there pretty good they do lose air over time

So far Oliver green seems to be the leading choice I'm leaning that way also, but first I have to button it up get the little things completed then its to take it apart and paint it, I did buy 3 cans of Rustoleum rust converter to spray the rusty areas

Worked on the control panel got a stop switch and a start switch installed a solenoid installed all components wired and it works as it should temporally installed the deck cover and installed the deck belt guide and it works good. I won't be installing a battery will just use a set of jumper cables for starting and then stow the cables on the tractor
