Gas tank or carbs with the BLACK varnish

I have found that denatured alcohol will cut this crap. So if you find this anywhere in your fuel system, you know what to use to clean it. Had some that was dry and solid. Scraped some off into a can. Put some denatured alcohol in and it started breaking it down. Good luck!

Well, the third rinse came out clean. I left it in overnight. Used a 50/50 mix with fresh gasoline. First time emptying the tank it was completely back. Had some sand it it for some reason.

For everyone info, this is the tank I was cleaning, off a Sears SS/16.


Got the parts to convert my ST/16 to this style tank.
