Grandpa’s MF7

I rode it around for about a half hour today. Runs good, drives good through all gears. Its a nice little tractor, I’m happy with it so far. Pictures as promised.

I got the mower deck ready a few days ago. Washed and polished, sharpened the blades, and put new grease in the gearboxes. Today I put it on. By the time I was done it was raining, so I didn’t get to try it. I think it’s supposed to be nicer tomorrow.

Jumpins that’s a nice looking tractor and mower. Labels on the deck, original tires, that’s some nice. Ours not that nice but sure works and cuts grass great. Can’t wait for the report on the grass cutting.

For a 40 year old + -- tractor it really goods great. All original too I believe ???

Those mower decks almost look real close to what Roper/ Sears used on their smaller framed tractors. Brackets look a bit different but the shell looks almost identical.

Noel pointed out to me one time that the deck on that old MTD Eight Hundred LT I have has a very similar looking deck too. Same shaft drive setup and have to "time" the blades.

The deck even still has some red paint left on the bottom. That deck is not the original one. This one is:
Not quite as nice. The roller is missing, it was repainted, looks like the brackets on the back broke off and were welded back on, and the coupler to the right gearbox is bad.

I finally got to try mowing with it. It did a great job. I’m happy with it.

Those MF7s are one of the best cutting tractors I've ever used...like carpet.

I wish mine had the full foot rest. I always wanted to make a set. Those pegs are a bit uncomfortable.
