It took a few minutes before the lightbulb went off, I didn't have the points gapped at the correct time. Adjusted the points, reinstalled the coil magneto and it has spark and runs. Tomorrow if the rain stops I plan on removing the Kohler and putting the Techumseh back in.

As aggravating that was to find Ted it maybe would've been worse mounting up that Kohler.

That is what I was thinking too many changes to make the Kohler work.

I did get the engine in the tractor. I did a complete rewire job, I took all the wiring out to put in the Kohler. I ordered a new key switch, Amazon showed up with it at 2 pm today. Once all the wiring was done and key switch installed the tractor started right up. I moved it to the back yard under its own power. Once that was done I moved a lot of stuff out of the way in the garage to make room for the 12h with blower. The 12h is parked in the Garage.

Lots of progress today, Ted! I still need to get the shop "winterized" here. Sounds like a pretty decent week coming up so hopefully will get something done.

I still have some minor stuff to do on the MF12. The choke linkage is binding up and not wanting to shut the choke off. And the lift handle does not want to spring out when it is suppose to latch. With the snowblower on the front it will not be fun if I cant get the latch to work right.

The latch knob or button on the MF8E wouldn't work at all. The lift lever assembly was laying outside when I got the tractor, and then I just put it in a shed for 30 years. I sprayed penetrating oil from the button end and started tapping the knob with a light no bounce hammer. Got it moving down but wouldn't spring up. Pried the bottom end of the rod back up and kept doing that back and forth until it moved freely. I put it on the tractor with intentions of building a sleeve hitch but so far it is still for looks---LOL!

I plan on doing the same thing with this one. It was real bad when I first bought it (used) after some PB it started working better just not good enough yet. I will really miss the power lift not working with the blower on the front.

No the motor is toast it will not turn at all. I did put new brushes in and it worked for a day. This is an all in one unit, motor runs 2 gears for the hydraulic pump. Depending on which direction the motor turns the oil with either push the cylinder in or out. The unit is marked Prestolite but I could not find any information other than the part number in the Massey parts book.
 
Any way to hook up a remote pump driven off the tractor engine, Ted? Would require considerable fabrication and probably new hoses I suppose, plus a valve body. I have an old power steering pump for the lift on my MF8E blade.

I have been looking at that option. I have a hydraulic valve from a MF1450 I could use. I would just have to get a pump, reservoir and ram. I still have the piece which bolts on in place of the handle the ram hooks to.
