Many of you folks from the other site will remember my fight with a hard starting John Deere 300...

I got a new starter, now it’s in, turns over and all. But now no spark!

I have spark under this cover, but not at plug.

Chucked plug into Massey 14, has spark. Tried plug lead from coil on the 14, spark. Tried Massey plug in JD, no spark. Perhaps the coil is shot? Wired backwards?

I had the coil out to try and get the parts Massey 14 going last year, but put it back in the jd

I hope someone here has a good idea

Thanks

Disconnect the negative wire that runs to the points from the coil. Attach a good wire to the negative coil post and with power to the coil, tap the end of this wire on a shiny place on the engine while observing the spark plug laying on the engine where it has a good ground path. Let us know the results.

Exactly . Try removing the points to see that that area is clean and contact between the points and block. Also clean the terminals and wire ends on the coil. One last thing check that the plug on the ignition switch is pushed all the way in. Good luck

Not much of an update

Wetter than a barrel of water and, get this supposed to snow tonight so I should have some time off work tomorrow. I hope.
