This power lift was on my MF 12 hydro when I bought the tractor. This is the first one I had seen, I have since seen one more on a MF12 at an auction. Here is a picture mounted on the tractor.IMG_20220725_200948275~2.jpgIt worked great until last winter. At that time I took the cap off the motor and resoldered a brush wire and it worked. A few months later I was using it and smoke came out of the motor. I took the motor off and took it apart. Here are some pictures;IMG_20241116_082633081_HDR.jpgHere is a picture of the prestolite tag.IMG_20241116_082654147.jpgThe end of the motor is machined with a flat spot to go into a oil pump gear.IMG_20241116_082736112_HDR.jpgThere are 6 screws around the edge of the housing and 4 bolts to hold it together.IMG_20241116_082804507_HDR.jpgHere is underneath the cover, oil pump and to the right of the pump is one of the check valves IMG_20241116_083055495_HDR.jpgIMG_20241116_083524022_HDR.jpgIMG_20241116_083510024.jpgThere are 2 small check balls also.

That little bugger is more complex than I would have thought.
There isn't a starter motor of sorts out there that might help with that part. Again only throwing spit balls here...
Could be SOL...
May have to reinvent the wheel here..or hope by chance you stumble across one.
Just for shits and giggles take a look around on Surplus Centers web site . Might give you some insight for your imagination.

The only motor i have seen close to the same size is one from a Kitchenaid mixer (long story for another time), the actual part i need is the field coil and brush holder.

With the little room under the hood it looks like a power steering pump is going to be the way to go. The dimensions for a small 12v hydraulic system are still too big. The cylinder may be just as fun to find, I may have one on my Case front blade off of a cub cadet. I need to go measure the dimensions. The JD cylinders for their angle blades look to be the right length and stroke giving me a couple of options.

Dang too bad parts are long obsolete, Ted. That's a pretty cool compact, self-contained unit! Not even close to the same tractor, but the power steering pump on my MF8E is mounted outside the hood. I didn't build it either. It was already on the tractor when I got it over 30 years ago. The pump reacts too fast actually but I have learned how to "feather" the lever through the years.

I had a Simplicity Sovereign that had electric lift and I really liked it. You could operate it without starting the tractor. It was just a simple Linear actuator laid on it's side between the frame rails. Maybe something like that would work for you.

I'm sort of wondering what the stroke is on the one Ted needs. Electric actuators seem to need plenty of room. Ted's looks like a pretty small compact unit . And don't see them with hydraulic over electric in a small unit like that. Cool little thing they used there..and I'm liking the one you listed Chris. Reasonably priced too..

Dimensions for the unit closed from Pin to Pin measure 8-8.25" and extended 11.75" = 3-3.5" stroke.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will see if I can find one to fit. The wiring and switch are still in the tractor.
