Thanks Noel. That’s a great help. I am collecting the Pony this morning. When I get it back to my workshop here in France I hopefully will get some more info regarding engine serial numbers and such like. John.Hi all. Today I purchased 1960 Pony built in Lille France. I am having problems getting info regarding engine oil and hydraulic fluid spec. The Pony is a four cylinder petrol with a 6 volt electrical system. All help and info will be gratefully received.
Thanks Noel.I would use 10w 30 oil in the engine. Or 30w. Use a non detergent oil for the hydraulics. Detergent oil will foam which Is not good.

Hi MNGB. Sorry for the delay with a reply. The Pony has a Simca 9 4cylinder petrol engine. 1.2lt. 15.8 hp.I am still struggling to find the exact year of manufacture and also the exact model. After some elimination I believe it’s an 812 and not an 820. The latter being fitted with the Peugeot Petrol or the Homogan diesel block. The guy I bought it off said it was registered in 1960 but that came from his elderly father.!! I am leaning to around 1958/59. There is very little information here in France. All I know is it was built in Marquette Les Lille France. The serial number on the plate and chassis doesn’t seem to match with data that I have researched. More work required methinks.Yea that is definitely a different engine than what was used in the North American made tractor, nice looking tractor thanks for posting the pictures
so is that a French engine and how many cubic inches or CC's whats the HP rating? I'm curious about the engine
Hi alleyyooper. My Pony has rear hydraulics although the reservoir is empty. This was pointed out by the last owner. The tractor has the lever on the right hand side which I assume is for a mower attachment or similar. There is a part of the lifting system underneath which is missing. After some lubrication the rear pto and pulley goes in and out of gear but II would like to see a picture of the very rear of the tractor. I have a 1949 pony (American MFG) and it has a manual lift system for the plow and cultvators and a lever on th eright side like yours for the lift.
I also have a 1954 Pacer simular to the pony but more HP (16) that has hydrlic lift system. No lever on the right side to lift tools like a plow or the cultvators.
See yours has the optinal wheel weights all around. must be some heavy dirt to be turned to need weights on th efront also.
