Massey Harris Pony

I found the number stamped into the casting of the main transmission gearbox, just forward of the gear pattern.

My number is 19074 which makes mine a 1952 model. The casting date on the engine block is Nov 1950 which makes perfect sense to me for the engine to be a little earlier than the tractor because M-H sourced the engines from Continental and I suppose it took a while from the time the blocks were cast till they actually made it onto a tractor.
I plan to order a reproduction plate to finish off my restoration and stamp my number onto it.

Caution though: I believe the starter mounts differently on a Pony engine block and an Allis G. The engines and/or blocks might not interchange because of the starter differences.

Yes the G Allis N62 engine has lots of differences as posted the starter is mounted along side the block and I think the head has differences also but all the internals are the same, the Pony and Earthmaster engines are pretty much the same and can be interchanged, the Earthmaster engine is drilled and tapped for a temp gauge ( the Pony gas tank mt is in the way of the temp location, the starter mounts are different and the Carbs are different Earthmaster used a Zenith and Pony's had a Marvel
