I wonder if kids today would know what those were for if they found one. I don’t remember talking about them when I was in school. They do come in handy when making scale drawings.Found the scale rulers the other day again
Still have a 2 or 3 around here. I used them a lot making sign drawings before computer days.I wonder if kids today would know what those were for if they found one. I don’t remember talking about them when I was in school. They do come in handy when making scale drawings.
I had one for the slot cars, Rog. Don't know what I did with it though. HO scale has a much looser definition with cars. 1/87th at the beginning then they morphed out to 1/64th. Aurora pretty much led the way moving HO cars to 1/64th. They retained the same wheelbases, except for 4 gear chassis but got wider mainly. The are specific to the scale of the railroad your modeling, such as O, HO, S, N, Z. HON3 is in there too. A bit different than the 1/4" scale etc. If I remember right HO scale would be 1:87, meaning it is 1/87th the size of a real train.
Yes, to me even 1/87th slot cars seemed too big compared to HO trains and buildings, Rog.I ran into that when trying to fine true HO scale autos and trucks without going the name brand high $$ ones. The 1/64th worked as long as they were away from the viewer and not placed with the HO units. Putting them in between buildings made the buildings look larger. Never did get into the model race cars much.
Lot of those supposed HO scale building kits were not tru scale either but didn't make much difference for the buildings and there really is not standard. Just get close.Yes, to me even 1/87th slot cars seemed too big compared to HO trains and buildings, Rog.

I have those too Roger. I used them a lot when scratch building and cutting scaled lumber. Can you tell me or post a pic of the scaled rulers or what ever you have. If I don’t have what you have I’ll buy them from you if you’re not needing them anymore. What ever else you might have for bench working I might be interested in too. I’m trying my best to get back into it I miss it a lot.The are specific to the scale of the railroad your modeling, such as O, HO, S, N, Z. HON3 is in there too. Will try and remember to get some pics this afternoon. Had to sit in a very uncomfortable chair for an hour yesterday and my back is letting me know about it today. Stimulator sure helps a bunch though.I have those too Roger. I used them a lot when scratch building and cutting scaled lumber. Will work on getting decent photos tomorrow. They are stainless and hard to get a clear photo without a bunch of glare even without a flash.I have those too Roger.
