Me too Aaron, along with first and second gen Monte Carlo's, Buick GN's and even '55-57 Chevy's! One of the first gen Monte's I cut up was a big block Super Sport! I still have the fender badges from that one.We cut apart so many of those building dirt track cars….I feel bad about now! We would pick them up off the classifieds for 500-1000 bucks, buddy was a certified welder and we had access to a bender. We could get a car ready for novice class for under 2,000 bucks.
A lot of those around here had bad rot right in front of the rear tires!
I was at a race Friday, and I was thinking about that while watching the Road Runners. They are pretty much all Monte Carlo’s and Novas. How many of them probably started out as nice cars. They are fun to watch, and I’m sure they are fun to race, but it’s sad seeing old cars get cut up.We cut apart so many of those building dirt track cars….I feel bad about now! they called it novice class at our track. Stock Body, Stock Engine, Stripped and a Roll cage. Some guys didn't even run a fuel cell. We always cut the trunk floor out and built a rack to hold a good fuel cell.I was at a race Friday, and I was thinking about that while watching the Road Runners. The way to make a small fortune in racing, is to start with a large fortune!they called it novice class at our track. Stock Body, Stock Engine, Stripped and a Roll cage. Some guys didn't even run a fuel cell. We always cut the trunk floor out and built a rack to hold a good fuel cell.
It was a fun class, and cheap to get into. But still an expensive hobby..
