MTD 990 hydro issues

The 990 I used to have was a 72 or 73 and it had the hole also, but wasn't cracked.
When I purchased the 990 a couple years ago It came with a second one for parts or repair. I inspected the frame on that one today. That frame is also cracked but not as bad, just the bottom side of the hole.
I have the frame repaired, welded on a metal plate, everything back together except for the seat.

All good now, actually working better than it has since I bought it.
a big Thank you to all who helped.
That’s good news Keith when you get a chance post a few pics of your tractor. I noticed a White in your avatar. I have a 1855 that I have dismantled. I had to slide the engine forward to replace a hydro fan. I noticed a lot of surface rust underneath because of it sitting so long outside before I bought it so I just decided to dismantle the whole thing, clean it up, sand blast, prime and paint. The 1855 and my 990 are my favorites that I have.

The white was a 960, manual shift. I really liked that tractor, pulled like crazy, hauled out a lot of wood with that one. I still have it but the clutch gave out. so I bought the 990 for ease of operation in the wood lot, don't have to push clutch and shift. I will post a picture, should have it up later today.

All ready to go back for more logs.
