Picked Up Another Metal Table

My friend called me yesterday and said he had something for me, another metal table but smaller. He gave me one a few years ago that I use to weld on which is a 36 x 42 x 33 1/2” H. I’m thinking a smaller one will be good to have to move parts or engines around the shop. I get there and I can see how excited he but these are bigger than the one I have. He has eight of these on his trailer. This one is made the same way using 2x2 square stock, 3/16th solid top and massive wheels but 45 x 50 x 33 1/2”H. I took it because it would hurt his feelings if I didn’t. I’m not sure what I’ll do I can’t have both of these in my shop like they are. I’ve got two tractors in the shop now for a nut and bolt rebuild so maybe once at least one of these gets done I might be able to rearrange some things. I thought about maybe cutting one in half to make two smaller tables. The way they are made it would be easy.

Yep. Remake it to the way you need it.

Well I thought about switching the tables with the Lincoln underneath but it won’t fit under the new table.

I’ve been wanting to make some serious changes in the shop to accommodate a different table saw, and a 2hp dust collector that I’ve had for awhile. By switching table saws and moving some things around I can use this new table as is. It took awhile to clean up the packing tape and some kind of over spray that was on the top.

I welded a cross support under the table and used some dreadful particle board I’ve had for years. I know this stuff is heavy but I barely made it out of the woodshed to the front of my shop. Once upon the saw horses I realized this stuff wasn’t the typical 3/4x4x8 sheet I thought it was. It was 1”x 52”x 104”. I made a bottom and that freed up some floor space immediately. I have two tractors and my wood chipper in the shop so when that stuff goes out and some other things installed things will work out nice. The problem I’ll have is making sure this flat surface isn’t a catch all like other flat areas are.
