Picked Up Some Metal

I stopped to see a friend yesterday and helped him move some 3x3 square tube stock 20’ lengths out of his way. He asked me if I wanted any so I just took one. I have to take my trailer back to get it. He gave me several sheets of 16 gauge metal about 30”x 48” and a piece of 1/4” sheet metal about the same size.

Lance I’m thinking of a trailer tongue tool box. I have some 3/4” angle iron from another project. I’m thinking a simple box about 12” h x 30”w then frame or reinforce it with the angle iron on the corners, top, and bottom. Store the trailer Jack, ratchet straps, etc. I had thoughts of it housing a winch and battery maybe. I’ll have to sleep on it a few times for the winter.

Good snag..
That's a nice gauge metal. Light enough to easily form and heavy enough to weld easily. Cuts great with zip wheel or hacksaw blade in a sabre saw. I ended up with a few sheets several years ago and enjoy working with it.
