But the baby potato bugs are too. Wasn’t to bad until yesterday. I was keeping up with the adults and baby potato bugs, until yesterday. A lot of baby ones. So I may have to resort to the propane torch today.
But the plants are growing well. Should have a good crop. Hoping for 200 lbs plus.
Blue potatoes in the first two pictures. And superiors in the left row and russet Burbank in the other rows, last picture. These were all planted the middle of June.

Noel.

Noel if you stay out of the garden the bugs aren't a problem. ;)
Your spuds are looking good. Really am sorry for your bug problems. Wish I had a solution for you.

I am not an insecticide or weed killer sort of guy. I had pretty good luck just squsihing them. See a few every day, squish, squish........Make sure you wash your hands after....they are real juicy....lol

Now, the weeds are another story

Bugs not so bad today, but have it keep at them. If I can get threw another two or three weeks, the potatoes will be there and grow, the bugs will slow down some and not bother the growing. The potatoes will grow fine and will have a good crop. Hopefully.

Noel

Ya Harry I was squishing them too, but when you start getting a hundred or so, that’s not good. Torch is much quicker. Guaranteed dead.

No big problem with weeds. Just do them while killing the bugs. I take a hoe with me. And use grunt with the cultivator once a week or two weeks.

Swallow your pride and hit them with an insecticide. Don't eat the leaves so no harm. What do you think the commercial growers do? No bugs in my sweet potatoes. Pushing dirt good now and had to cut the vines back the other day.

Can’t buy much of that in Canada. Commercial growers have the stuff, but residential growers can’t buy that.

Bugs have slowed down a lot. Less than thirty today. Week and a half ago or so, easy 500 a day.

Sweet Potatoes are pushing dirt good now. Cut the vines back every week or so and keep them dusted with "Seven".
