Well I am back on the wood splitter for the widow lady down the street. I had to put it away for the winter for other projects and winter maintenance. We had the Ice Storm of a lifetime about a month ago and now we have hundreds of trees down in our neighborhood alone that will need to be cut and split. She has two lots full that need to be cut.
I put a new carb on it and replaced all the gaskets, made sure it has fuel , Spark, oil and air. It will run on gas injected into the plug hole, injected into the carb and once it ran on its own for about 2 min until it just quit. It will run as described above but not without adding fuel via the carb or in the plug hole. The gas tank looks clean but I may take it off tomorrow and see if it has junk in it or if the fuel line has collapsed from the use of ethanol fuel. The gas will flow from the tank with the line off the carb. I will also change the oil, the engine only takes 1/2 quart of oil. The air filter appears to be clean as I can see light thru it. When it runs it runs great and sounds good.
Not sure what I am missing but nthere hjads to be something. This is the second new carb I put on it the first one would not even get fuel to the bowl.
I will post more tomorrow if I can get at it. The wife and I are still cleaning up the front of the property from the ice storm. We have about 10 more trailer loads of limbs pine and such to go yet. We have already hauled away 13 loads to the debris site.
If you have any suggestions feel free and I appreciate your input.
Have great night and stay safe and healthy.
Roger
