The 48" deck is a little large for that tractor. My uncle had one of each of the decks. the 48 originally came on the SS 12 and the 42 came on the SS 14. He swapped the decks and there was a notable difference. The SS 12 struggled with the 48 deck at times, with the 42 deck he had no problems.

My apologies, it was driving me crazy last night that I believe I told you wrong. It is actually a 42" deck. I'll blame it on my excitement of having a new to me tractor.

Here are a few other pictures for everybody's enjoyment. Not sure what the red button at the top of the dash is yet. Haven't had time to chase it down yet.

I am also curious what the knob above the steering wheel is for.
