Thrust bearing on steering column

Who here has done this? I tried to on the Ariens that I had the steering gear apart on and the bearing kit that I bought was for a smaller unit, I found out that it fit this cub 129 that I'm working on so I used it there,

It seems that many of the GTs of the 70s and 80s had basically these same Ross steering columns so it would work for most of them.
Basically you replace the double nuts on the pivot with 1 locknut and a thrust bearing. Does it help as much as it is hyped? Don't cost much to try I guess

Yes, Cub, JD, Gilson and a few other brands all used the same basic gearbox. Some used a different finish to the top of the steering shaft to fit different types of steering wheels.
