Anybody here know much about the older Troybilt Horse tillers ?
I know pretty much nothing. I would like to find the model number and year so I can try to find manuals and other info on them.
This one does have a newer replacement engine.

I didn't manage to get the numbers off of it last night. I will today. I do have another question though. The diff is locked on this one. Is it suppose to be perminately locked or is there a lever or control to unlock it ?

As far as I know Troybilt tillers don't really have a diff, it's just a worm gear driving a regular gear.

Yes. Shaft from belts is a worm gear, but the lever on the right is a high low selector, should move freely.
Bad thing people do is use newer G2-G5 gear oil in the gear box, the newer oils have stuff that eats up the bronze bushings. Tractor supply carries a 90 wt G1 gear oil that works.

I know where there is another one if you would like twice the headache!! :) Rick

Yes, as said the wheel drive axle is locked due to no spider gears. I own a horse and have found when making a turn to push sideways on the handlebars to lift some weight off the wheel on the inside of the turn. Mine is the PTO model and I have the owners manual for it on CD which except for the PTO option is identical to the other models. If you can't find one PM me your email addy and I'll shoot it to ya.
Mike
